MAHESWARAM SHIVALAYAM, HYDERABAD

Maheswaram Shivalayam also known aqs Shivaganga temple is one of the historical temple dated back to 16th century.  Today  Wednesday 2 March 2011 is Mahashivaratri.  Early morning, I took head bath and prayed in the house then, took Oats and milk, took regular medicine and started in my car at 7:30AM.  I reached RCI Pahadishereef gate and took bus to Maheswaram at 8AM.  Soom in 25 minutes I reached the Shiva Ganga temple.  It is very beautiful and situated in the middle of Koneru.  History websites show that thi temple was  built by Akkanna and Madanna during 1670's and later destroyed by Aurangajeb in 1686.  The bottom floor is knon as Matha Rajarjeswari Alayam and the floor over it at ground level is that of  Lord Shiva.  The orginal shivalingam and Matha RajaRajeswari probably have been ruined.  The idolds we see today have been installed by Govt of Endowments in the year 2001 and after.
I took packet of Milk for Abhishekam and a flower garlend.  I reached at 8:30AM and had darshan and abhishekam by 9AM.  Back to office by 9:30 AM.  There are regular tokens 150/- for abhishekam but, the process takes much longer as there is Que for the same.   I also could not to the downstairs temple of RajaRajeswari as I did not understand in my hurry to reach office at the earliest.   Ma be I will again, leisurely some other time. Being a festival day, devotees are attending  for Pooja but, there is not that much crowd as I reached 8:30AM.
